pregnant women are included among the priority categories, but only those which are located between the second and third trimester of gestation.
“The measure reads the note – identify the categories of persons to whom it is direct the offer of influenza vaccination with pandemic influenza vaccine A/H1N1 starting from the moment of the effective availabilityà of the vaccine (the delivery to the Regions and Autonomous Provinces is expected in the period 15 October-15 November 2009) to cover at least 40% of the resident population in Italy.
In order of priorityà the offer of vaccination will be given to:- individuals who are considered essential to the maintenance of the continuityà welfare and work: personal health and the health and social care; staff of the public security forces, and civil protection; staff of the Administrations, Institutions and Companies; ensure that essential public services; blood donors periodicals; – women in the second or third trimester of pregnancy; – people at risk of età between 6 months and 65 years – the people of età between 6 months and 17 years, with no risk, on the basis of the updates of the technical file authorised by the Emea or the instructions that will be provided by the Higher Council of the Sanità, – people between 18 and 27 years, with no risk. In the order signed Friday by Fazio, is specified which categories are considered to be at risk.
“In particular,” we read in the note – are considered at-risk persons and those suffering from chronic diseases in the load of the respiratory system, including asthma, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, cystic fibrosis and Copd; diseases of the cardiovascular system, including congenital and acquired heart disease; diabetes mellitus and other metabolic diseases; renal diseases with renal failure; diseases of the organs hematopoietic and hemoglobinopathies; neoplasms; severe liver disease and liver cirrhosis; diseases, congenital and acquired, that result in deficient antibody production; immunosuppression induced by medications or by Hiv”.
And still, patients with “chronic inflammatory disease and malabsorption syndromes intestinal diseases associated with an increased risk of aspiration of respiratory secretions, such as neuromuscular diseases; obesityà with a body mass index (BMI) greater than 30, and severe concomitant disease; family members or close contacts of high-risk individuals who, for contraindications temporary or permanent, may not be vaccinated.”
“On the basis of the availabilityà of pandemic vaccine – then explains the ministry – in the course of the vaccination campaign will be entered in the program as well as other categories of subjects. The vaccine will be distributed to the Regions and Autonomous Provinces on the basis of the resident population and other authorities of the State on the basis of specific agreements”.
